How to crop pdf

  1. Choose your PDF, or drop it on the page.
  2. Set how much to trim from each side, as a percentage of the page.

  4. Download the cropped PDF.

How PDF cropping works

Cropping sets the crop box: the window viewers use to display and print each page. The content outside the box is not destroyed, it is hidden, exactly like trimming a photo in an album without cutting it. That makes cropping fast, fully reversible (crop again with 0 percent), and completely lossless for what remains visible.

Percentages keep the tool simple: 10 percent off the top of an A4 page removes about 3 centimetres. Equal values on all four sides trim a uniform border; uneven values rescue scans with a black edge on one side only. The pairs cannot exceed 90 percent combined, because a page with nothing left helps nobody.

The jobs it exists for: shaving scanner margins, hiding punch holes, trimming slide decks to 16:9 for a cleaner share, and cutting away a fax header that has survived three generations of copies.

Limits and honest notes

Because cropping hides rather than deletes, the trimmed-away content still exists in the file. If a margin contains something confidential, cropping is not enough; rebuild the document from extracted pages instead.

Set the crop on every page of the document. Pages of different sizes each get their own proportional box. Up to 20 files and 25 MB each; the whole job runs in this tab.

Frequently asked questions

Is cropping lossless?

For what remains visible, yes: the page content is untouched, only the viewing window changes. Re-crop with 0 percent to get the full page back.

Can I crop just one page?

All pages get the same box. For a single-page crop, extract that page first, crop it, then merge it back.

Why is my file not smaller after cropping?

The content outside the crop box still exists in the file. Cropping changes how pages display, not how much data they hold.

Is my document uploaded?

No. Cropping runs entirely in your browser.
