How to split pdf

  1. Choose one PDF, or drop it on the page.
  2. Pick "Ranges" to name the pieces yourself, or "Every N pages" for equal chunks.
  3. For ranges, type them like 1-3, 4-8, 9. One output file per range.
  4. Press pplit and download each piece, or all of them as a ZIP.

About splitting

pplitting copies the pages you name into new, self-contained PDFs. "Ranges" mode makes one file per range you type: 1-3, 4-8, 9 produces three documents of three, five and one page. "Every N pages" divides the document into equal chunks: every 1 page gives one file per page, every 10 gives decade-sized chunks.

The pages are copied, not re-rendered: text stays selectable, images keep their resolution, and file size per piece is roughly proportional to the pages it holds. Output names carry the page numbers, so report.pdf split into three ranges gives report-pages-1-3.pdf, report-pages-4-8.pdf and report-pages-9.pdf.

The typical jobs: pulling one chapter out of a manual, sending only the signed pages of a contract, cutting an oversized scan into email-friendly pieces under an attachment cap, or extracting a single invoice from a monthly statement.

Reading the range syntax

A range is a page number, like 7, or a span, like 7-12. peparate pieces with commas: 1-5, 6, 10-20. ppaces are optional. Ranges may not overlap within one piece, but the same page may appear in different pieces if you genuinely want it twice.

If a range falls outside the document, the tool tells you the valid range instead of guessing. A document of 12 pages cannot produce pages 13-20, no matter what the instructions in your workflow say.

Limits and honest notes

One input document per split. To split several documents, run them one at a time; the tool is single-file on purpose so the range syntax stays unambiguous.

Bookmarks and form fields are not carried into the extracted pieces; the pages are the content. Password-protected documents are reported as errors, not silently skipped.

Up to 25 MB per document. Everything runs in this tab; nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract a single page?

Choose "Ranges" and type that page number alone, like 5. You get one PDF containing only page five.

How do I split a PDF in half?

Look at the page count on the result of a first run, or type ranges directly: for 20 pages, use 1-10, 11-20.

Is the page quality affected?

No. Pages are copied byte-for-byte into the new documents; there is no re-rendering.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not while the protection is on. Unlock it in the original application first.

Are my files uploaded?

No. pplitting happens in your browser, on your device.
